Description: 

This essential position's responsibilities are to ensure the quality of all formats of library materials and shipping containers and the timely and accurate entry of new acquisitions into the library's management system and maintain required inventory control; to work with other Circulation Staff to facilitate speedy circulation of library materials.

Job Functions and General Responsibilities:

  • Load and unload United States Postal Service hampers and cages.
  • Print mailing cards and log daily statistics.
  • Add new books to circulation software.
  • Inspect digital books by checking the USB drive and mailing case. Make necessary repairs.
  • Process by using bar code scanner and circulation software.
  • Deliver mismatched digital books and containers to Duplication.
  • Unbox and process in-coming braille and large print books.
  • Box outgoing braille and large print books in provided mailing containers.
  • Process Program Pack Kits and games and then prepare for shipping.
  • Inspect and process descriptive DVDs.
  • Shift (move) books in "cart/slot" and "shelf location" areas.
  • Re-shelve materials as needed for proper space allocation.
  • Access National Library Service Braille and Audible Reading Download (BARD) database to obtain, download, and duplicate audio files.
  • Test all duplicated materials for usability, prepare necessary print/braille labels.
  • Add downloaded titles to the Keystone Library Automation System (KLAS) software.
  • Maintain network files of downloaded/duplicated materials, including deletion of files as needed.
  • Work with warranty book program
  • Process weeded materials (resources to be discarded) for federal recycling programs, which includes redistribution of usable items.
  • Perform other duties as requested for the efficient operations of the department

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and comfortable working with shifting work assignments.
  • Ability to read, sort, and arrange number sequences.
  • Ability to work with computer software (KLAS, BARD, Microsoft Office).
  • Ability to push large wheeled bins.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work cooperatively/collaboratively in a team environment
  • Ability to understand both written and verbal English

 Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Generic computer skills
