The Imaging Services Manager is under the direct supervision of the Director of Records Management. The manager is responsible for production activities of all personnel, projects and equipment in the Imaging Services Section; provides technical expertise to outside government personnel on digital and micrographic imaging; and implements sound archival and records management practices for the preservation of and access to long-term records.

 Job Functions and/or General Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership for the Imaging Section through supervising staff, planning and coordinating activities, compiling productivity statistics and developing imaging policies, procedures and standards.
  • Ensures overall accuracy, effectiveness and timely accomplishments of all imaging operations.
  • Serves as the primary contact for all Records Services digital and micrographic imaging projects.
  • Provides expertise and advice to local government and state agencies in imaging principles and methodologies.
  • Tracks imaging project progress with daily, weekly and monthly reports.
  • Recommends equipment purchases for the Imaging Section. Evaluates criteria of maintenance contracts and assures contracts are up to date.
  • Updates disposition information of imaged records in the State of Missouri Agency Records Tracking (SMART) System.
  • Ensures project names, file syntax and formats meet customer access requirements and archival standards.
  • Delivers digital images to customers using online systems or physical media.
  • Oversees micrographic and digital imaging training internally and from outside sources.
  • Provides technical expertise in the areas of equipment, document handling and standards for the production of quality microfilm and digital images.
  • Ensures equipment manuals are up to date and staff are advised of office and Imaging policies and procedures.
  • Provides on-demand imaging as necessary.
  • Interviews and recommends hiring of Imaging Services personnel.
  • Maintains professional status through participation in professional organizations, reviewing literature and attending specialized conferences and seminars.


  • Required: Bachelor's degree in history, business or public administration, information systems, library science or other related field or four years of experience in the Records and Information Management. Demonstrated knowledge of standard records management and archival practices. A Missouri Driver's License and the ability to travel statewide. Must be able to lift and carry 40-pound storage boxes.
  • Preferred: Minimum two years supervisory experience. Certified Archivist (CA), Certified Records Manager (CRM) or Certified Digital Imaging Architect (CDIA) designation, highly desirable. Four years of experience in a public records or private records service bureau environment, highly desirable. Master's degree in information systems, archival management, library science (with information science emphasis), computer science, or related field, highly desirable.
